NYC Health and Hospitals

New York City officials are urging folks to get the flu shot in an effort to help the coronavirus situation. The City is launching a multi-media ad campaign to encourage folks to get vaccinated.

“With Covid-19 still around, it is especially important to protect yourself from getting the flu and needing medical care.”

Health Commissioner Dr. David Chokshi says officials are trying to keep the energy and time spent on flu cases down because of coronavirus which has similar symptoms

“This year’s flu vaccine could be the most important one you ever get.”

He says flu shots are especially important for older adults, young children and those with chronic illnesses Mayor de Blasio thinks employees working from home should think about returning to the office. With coronavirus numbers continuing to remain solid in New York City, Mayor de Blasio says employers should start the process on determining how to bring employees back following capacity rules

“For a lot of sorta smaller and mid level employers, of course start to bring people back as soon as you feel ready. We want to make sure that this city comes back to life.”

But he says with the city’s large workforce, coming back to the office will be done carefully and in a timely manner.
