There’s a new variant of the coronavirus spreading in the United Kingdom.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is demanding action here in the U.S.
There’s a number of European countries that have stopped flights coming from the UK on the news of the new variant and some are now requiring fliers to take tests.
“A hundred twenty countries require tests. We don’t,” Cuomo said, furious at the federal government for not banning flights or requiring testing.
“This variant in the U.K. is getting on a plane and flying to JFK right now.” Health experts say they think the variant is 70% more transmissible although the death rate is believed to be about the same as the standard strain.
