New coronavirus vaccination zip code data in New York City show disparities.
Staten Island and Manhattan have the highest vaccination rates. Chief Equity officer Dr.Torain Easterling says the south Bronx,central Queens and central Brooklyn lag far behind.
“Just as we have seen a much smaller proportion of vaccines going to black and brown New Yorkers, we see these geographic disparities bearing out as well.”
He says the city is increasing its outreach and awareness effort to communities with low rates to try and convince people the vaccine is safe and effective.
