Stacey Kent is always a delight, and one of the most worldly singers I know. She recently came to Newark to talk with me about her new orchestral album, I Know I Dream, and to sing some of the songs with her group.
She sang some of the French and Brazilian songs from the album, as well as several songs that her arranger/saxophonist/husband Jim Tomlinson wrote with Kazuo Ishiguro, this year's Nobel Laureate for Literature. She was just in Stockholm for Ishiguro's ceremony, and she's headed back to the continent now, after a week's engagement at Birdland.
