More than 37 thousand people have tested positive for coronavirus in New York State as of Thursday. That’s an increase of more than six thousand from Wednesday.

New York City has more than 21-thousand cases. Governor Cuomo says the state is focusing on finding extra hospital space in New York City, Long Island and the lower Hudson Valley.

“Our goal is to have a one-thousand plus overflow facility in each of the boroughs downstate and the counties.”

The governor is furious at Congress saying only five billion dollars is set aside in federal stimulus money for New York. He says it covers coronavirus expenses but doesn’t address what his staff predicts will be a 10 to 15 billion dollar loss in revenue.

“We don’t have the luxury at this time of uh being emotional about what they did. When this is over, I promise you I am going to give them a piece of my mind.”

Cuomo says the number of coronavirus deaths in the state is now at 385. “We now have people who have been on a ventilator for 20 days 30 days. The longer you are on a ventilator, the more likely you are not going to come off and that is what is happening.”
