Frank Casey was the first investment analyst to blow the whistle on financier Bernard Madoff’s incredible Ponzi scheme that looted more than $65 billion from people around the globe. “This is a story that still has legs,” says Casey, now an analyst at Race Rock Capital in Boston.
Casey often testifies at court hearings on behalf of people victimized by Madoff and is a frequent speaker at financial conferences, and universities. “They all want to hear the Madoff story,” he said in a recent conversation. For example, he is the featured speaker at the New Jersey State Bar Association conference.
HBO will soon release a movie, The Wizard of Lies, starring Robert De Niro as Madoff and Michelle Pfeiffer as his wife that was based on the 2011 bestselling book by Diana Henriques.
Casey was featured in Chasing Madoff, a documentary on a 10 year investigation to bring Madoff to justice. The rogue financier was arrested in 2008. He pleaded guilty in March 2009 to 11 counts of fraud and sentenced to 150 years in prison.
