Essex County to Start Mail-In Ballot Count Five Days Before Election

Wikimedia Commons

Counties in New Jersey can start to count mail-in ballots October 24, but some are not starting right away.

In Essex County, the Board of Elections said counting will begin 5 days before Election Day. Union County will start October 30, but on the 24th it will start preparing the verified ballots for counting. Officials there say that is the most time-consuming part of the process.

Somerset said it will start sometime before Election Day. Bergen will begin the week of October 26, and Cape May and Camden counties will jump on it, starting their counts on the 24th.
