Cuomo Working To Get Retired Nurses And Doctors To Hospitals Across The State

The coronavirus death toll in New York State has passed 15-hundred. There are now more than 75 thousand people who have tested positive in the state and more than 43-thousand of those are in New York City as of Tuesday.

Governor Cuomo says his staff is coordinating with hospitals to now get retired nurses and doctors into the system.  More than 70-thousand volunteered.  Cuomo says current hospital staffs are worn out.

“They are working too many shifts. They are afraid to go home. They may bring the virus home. They are under immense uh physical and emotional stress.”

The governor says the state still doesn’t have the number of ventilators that may be needed when the virus climaxes.  He says thousands more have been ordered in China but not all of them are guaranteed.  Cuomo is furious the federal government didn’t become the chief purchaser because prices are through the roof with states competing.

“We’ll have a company call you up and say well California just outbid you. It’s like being on Ebay with 50 other states.”
