Community Access Unlimited Presents Annie Jr.

caunj.org

Community Access Unlimited provides support services for individuals with special needs.  Organization Assistant Executive Director Joanne Oppelt says the CAU Community Players program gives everyone involved a fun opportunity to work together.

“They have different abilities, not disabilities,” Oppelt said.  “It helps the community by bringing in some of the arts.  By bringing in businesses and people who can support the arts and brining culture to the community.  It helps our members and other actors in the play with self-esteem, large motor skills because they are singing and dancing, memorization, learning, education, and all of the good things that the arts bring to anybody.”

“We have fantastic actors. The actors that range from 4-years-old to 74-years-old,” said CAU Players founder Marguerite Modero.  “We have one-hundred people.  Actually, I shouldn’t say one-hundred people.  We have ninety-nine people and one dog.”

Megan Modero is a CAU member and plays Miss Hannigan.

“She is a person that everybody hates in the play,” said Modero.  “She’s the villain in the show but you want to know what?  I get to call Annie a brat in the end.”

Adam Fleischner plays the role of Daddy Warbucks.

“This is my first play ever. I’ve met a lot of great people here. I’ve made many great friends.  I hope to continue doing a lot here.”

Meela Sashi stars as Annie.

“It’s very fun.  I’m having a great time playing it.  It’s really cool that I got the lead role.”

Community Access Unlimited presents Annie Jr. at The Performing Arts Center at Rahway High School from June 29th to July 1st.
