This episode of The Art of the Story comes from the WBGO Archive and focuses on a 2006 conversation between trumpeter Jon Faddis and host Gary Walker.

During that interview Jon Faddis talked about his new album Teranga. The title means hospitality in Senegalese.

When Faddis came to New York from California in 1971, he was 18 years old. Thirty-five years later, Jon remembered the musicians who looked out for him; and he dedicated his “Waltz for My Fathers and Brothers” to their memories.

Gary Walker interviewed Jon to celebrate the release of the album Teranga.
