The performing arts center has released a revised schedule for the remainder of the summer, in the wake of last week’s fatal shooting following the NJPAC outdoor concert series.

The sounds of the city summer concert series will start at 5pm and end by 7:30 for the remainder of its 2013 summer run. Previously the series would often keep crowds entertained with music and vendors till near 10 o’clock at night. The move to scale back the hours comes on the heels of last week’s deadly shooting that happened just hours after the center’s concert ended.

In a written statement NJPAC says the decision was made after consultation with the City of Newark and the Newark Police Department.

32 year old Hanif Zeigler was found shot to death in a nearby parking lot. It is unclear whether he attended the concert or not.
