Patrons at Manhattan bar Jake's Dilemma dined outdoors on the first day it was allowed New York City. Mayor Bill De Blasio indefinitely delayed the opening of restaurants and bars for indoor dining on Wednesday.

Outdoor dining sheds on the streets of New York City must come down Friday for the colder months ahead.

New rules only allow outdoor roadway dinning during the warmer months. All structures on the street now must be down between November 30th and the end of March. The dinning structures were a lifeline to restaurants to help businesses survive the COVID pandemic. This will be the first time they are being forced to take down their street structures under a new outdoor dining program. They are allowed to keep their sidewalk structures up year round. City officials say only about half the restaurants with with outdoor dining setups during the pandemic signed up for the new program.
