Firefighters continue dying from 9-11 related illnesses

23 years have past since the 9-11 terror attacks and firefighters continue to get sick and die from toxins they were exposed to at Ground Zero during the cleanup and recovery effort.

In the past year alone, 28 more New York City firefighters have died from 9/11-related illnesses, bringing the total to 370. That's now more than the number of firefighters killed on the day of the attacks. Uniformed Fire Officers Association President Lieutenant Jim Brosi says many more are sick.

"And these people are suffering everyday, just trying to stay alive between scans, the uncertainty of those outcomes, the transition from treatment to treatment.

He's calling on Congress to fund a newly introduced bill that add money to World Trade Center Health program which could run out of funding in a few years. More than 132 thousand Americans are enrolled in the program.
