A major redesign of Park Avenue in Manhattan is coming. The city is starting to take bids from companies looking to do the work.
DOT officials are looking to install a wider median with new green space on Park Avenue from Grand Central Terminal to 57th street. the design will give more space for pedestrians and additional capacity for seating, art and landscaping while also making Park Avenue safer for pedestrians crossing the street. That's the district that Councilman Keith Powers represents.
"This is even more relevant that it was a few years ago. We are trying our best to make sure people are visiting Park Avenue coming here and the people coming to work have a space to enjoy."
The city just opened the bid process and it will accept bids over the next four weeks.
