Triple A is predicting an increase in travel this Memorial Day weekend nationwide and locally compared to last year.
Triple A spokesperson Alec Slatky says 2.8 million New York State residents will be traveling, a record high for Memorial Day weekend. Slatky says the roads will especially be busy late in the day on Sunday and Monday.
"A lot of the Hudson River crossings are always extremely crowded. A lot of the MTA bridges are crowded. LIE is crowded. So I would expect to pack your patients."
New York is the third most popular domestic destination this weekend. New Jersey will be crowded as well with many folks flocking to the shore. Triple A says more than one million Garden State residents will be on the move.
