NY state offering prenatal paid leave

New York state is now offering paid leave for prenatal care while giving pregnant women job protection.

State officials are highlighting the new benefit put in the fiscal year 2025 budget for paid prenatal care for pregnant women. Doctor Wendy Wilcox is with New York City Health and Hospitals.

"We have to ensure that pregnant women will be able to take off time from work to attend crucially important care during their pregnancies."

Employees are now able to receive an additional 20 hours of paid sick leave for prenatal care, Also in the budget, expanded access to doulas and portable cribs for under resourced New Yorkers at no cost.
