Former Jersey gov McGreevey eyes comeback

Former Governor Jim McGreevey

Former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey is trying to make a political comeback. The Democrat announced his run for mayor of Jersey City in year 2025.

McGreevey started out a campaign video reminding folks the day in 2004 he announced he was gay, had an extramarital affair and resigned.

"it was wrong. It was foolish. It was inexcusable."

After resigning, McGreevey started a reentry program for prisoners . His daughter talked about that in the video.

"We had a lot of people who had just come out of prison, home for dinner. His work taught me a lot about second chances and lot about people. What's the point if we just throw everyone away who made a mistake."

McGreevey is now hoping for a second chance to serve the public. His goal if elected is to make Jersey City more affordable. The current Mayor Steven Fulop is not running for re-election. He's running for governor.
