As part of his State of the City address Thursday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams is pledging to ramp up efforts to bring down crime.

Mayor Adams says there are roughly 1,700 known offenders responsible for a disproportionate amount of the city’s violent crime.

“We can not allow a small number of violent individuals to continue terrorizing our neighborhoods over and over again.”

He says he wants to work with state lawmakers to make changes to speed up trials in effort to get them off the streets. Adams says there will be ramped up efforts to focus on bringing down retail theft. The mayor also wants to work with Albany to remove aggressive and dangerous drivers and tow more illegally parked cars.
