Hochul Takes Steps To Try And Prevent Mass Shootings Following Buffalo Store Shooting

New York's governor is trying to prevent another deadly mass shooting similar to the one that took ten lives in Buffalo last weekend.

Governor Kathy Hochul is creating an office of domestic counter terrorism that will focus on homegrown extremism and hate speech on social media.

“To monitor the places where radicalization occurs. We are watching you now. We know what you are up to and we’ll be coming after you.”

Hochul is also mandating state police file an Extreme Risk Protection Order when they believe an individual is a threat. Before filing one was optional. This will prevent certain individuals from obtaining guns. Authorities allege a self proclaimed white supremacist behind the Buffalo shooting legally bought a gun despite apparently previously making a theat.
