New York City is looking to lift the mask mandate for children under five years old early next month. The city's Health Commissioner Doctor Ashwin Vassan says if the data continues to show low levels of risk for COVID, the mask mandate for children two-to-four years old in pre k and in daycare will be lifted Monday April 4th.

“Overall cases in children remain low. Hospitalizations in children remain low which is giving us comfort to make this decision at this point.”

Despite a slight rise in coronavirus cases citywide, health officials are very pleased with coronavirus school data in K through 12th graders since the mask mandate was lifted for those students a couple weeks ago.
