NY COVID Positivity Rate Falls To Single Digits

There's further evidence the coronavirus winter surge in New York State keeps declining. Governor Hochul says the percentage of people testing positive has dropped from 23 percent at the start the month to now under 10 percent. That’s the first time it’s been in the single digits since December 20th.

“We are not through the surge yet but boy those numbers look good.”

New Case numbers and new COVID hospitalizations keep dropping but Hochul warns the numbers are still high.

“This is not over. We still have stressed out overworked healthcare workers who are on the front lines.”

She’s not sure yet if she’ll extend the indoor mask mandate for places without a vaccine requirement. It expires at the end of the month. Hochul is sending more National Guard members to certain nursing homes that have overworked staff.
