Students Head Back To Classroom In NYC
Students head back to the classroom Monday in New York City for the start of the academic year but there are coronavirus related concerns.
All schools have been independently inspected for proper ventilation. Every classroom will be disinfected nightly and masks are once again required. Councilman Mark Treyger who heads the Education committee is concerned though despite data showing COVID was not an issue in schools last year.
“And that was only with a third of the school system back. And now with the entire system back, I am deeply concerned about the capacity to follow up on cases in a timely fashion.”
There is no remote option for students this year. Students twelve and older must get the vaccine if they want to take part in sports and extracurricular activities that are deemed high risk for coronavirus.
