New York City is issuing another coronavirus vaccine mandate. Mayor de Blasio says all employees at city contracted childcare centers and after school staff must get at least one dose by September 27th.

“More and more of the people who run the facilities recognize the mandates are going to give confidence to everyone, parents of the kids, making sure the kids are safe, to the employees knowing they are safe among each other.”

This expands on the vaccine mandate previously announced for teachers. the mayor says for now there is no vaccine mandate for eligible students because he says if a family is not ready he doesn't want discourage them from coming to school. Meanwhile, vaccinations are being made available next week at every school where there are students ages 12 and older.
