NYC Offering Incentives To Get Vaccinated

Jazz at Lincoln Center

New York City is now offering incentives to get the coronavirus vaccine with demand dropping. Mayor de Blasio says when New Yorkers get the shot, they will get free tickets or deals for things like the Botanical Garden, Bronx Zoo, Lincoln Center, Cyclones games, NYC Ferry and more.

“These new elements will help focus people. I don’t at this moment see cash incentive. I won’t take anything off the table but at this moment I think we want to try make it convenient. Things like the mobile vaccinations, the incentives.”

Meanwhile, the city has now given out just over seven million doses. It also has a positivity rate of slightly over two percent, the lowest it’s been in about six months.

New York City’s public library system is expanding service starting today.

The City’s public libraries have pretty much been limited to grab and go pickup and virtual services during the pandemic. But now as part of the city’s reopening, many library locations are welcoming back folks inside. Famed author Min Jin Lee is a huge fan of the library.

“The pandemic has made us all afraid of getting sick or dying but it’s also made us afraid of each other because we haven’t had a time to hang out and I can’t think of a better place to hang out and learn.”

Folks will now be able to browse shelves under a time limit and can sign up for a time slot to use library computers.
