Entertainment And Performing Arts Venues Reopen In NYC
The reopening process continues in New York State. Entertainment venues in the state are open today for the first time during the coronavirus pandemic. Chris Mazzilli owns Gotham Comedy Club in Manhattan. He says having his business closed for a little over a year has been financially challenging but he says he’s glad to be back.
"People are dying to get out. The phones have been ringing, a lot of emails, lot of inquires, what;s going on, who is going to be on. People are excited about it. Comedy is back in New York City baby."
Other performing arts venues can have audiences once again but only up to 33 percent capacity. Broadway theaters remain shut though. Meanwhile, college sports fans are allowed back into large stadiums and arenas starting today at ten percent capacity indoors and 20 percent outdoors.
