Diane Sweet - Vocals, Sean Schulich - Flute
Born and raised in NYC, Diane Sweet is a performer living in Manhattan. Diane has performed in Paris and London, and has toured Northern Italy as a vocalist. She has been compared to the likes of Sara Vaughn, Billie Holiday and Sade. Whether performing with her own ensemble or as a featured vocalist, her sound is at once charismatic, vulnerable, and sensual.
She’s got the classic looks, the incredible singing voice, and a repertoire that includes American classics ranging from traditional jazz and blues, to soulful interpretations of the music of Jimi Hendrix and Antonio Carlos Jobim, as well as her own compositions. She has performed with world class musicians at numerous venues in NYC including Zinc Bar, Smoke, Showman’s Smalls and Tavern on the Green .
Sean Schulich has played with the Funky Meters, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the New Orleans Suspects, Bernie Worrell, Charles Neville, Meshell Ndegeocello and Zigaboo Modeliste. He's played Jazz Fest in New Orleans, The Mint in LA, and BB King's, BAM, Brooklyn Bowl, Bowery Ballroom and the Blue Note here in New York City.
Sean hails from Woodstock, NY, and after earning his Masters from Yale, he won Artists International, selling out his debut at Carnegie's Weill Hall. Being a multi-genre musician, he then went on to co-found the fusion group Alpha Mosaic, winning a Sony Jazz Competition.
Pushing the boundaries of the flute, his playing is uniquely soulful, performances electric and his band is simultaneously subtle and powerful. Sean's playing is described as "audacious" and "staggering" by jazzreview.com
