This year’s season marked the 18th year for the NDD Common Greens Farmers Market — the largest and most diverse outdoor market in Newark! The market was held at the old PSE&G Plaza, every Thursday, until November 15th.
This week features a live performance by LaQuin & the Family Tree Band. LaQuin & the Family Tree Band are a mission driven Funk, Hip-Hop, and Soul band consisting of saxophone, vocals, electronic wind instrument, and LaQuin's on spot arrangements driven by Ableton Push. LaQuin also provides audiences with cover music options which can consist of drums, bass, guitar, saxophone, turntables, emcee and a vocalist.
LaQuin has earned the reputation as a talented saxophonist, songwriter, and educator to look out for. With "Family Tree," LaQuin shares stories told to him by his Grandmother Louise Lay and the families transition from the plantation fields in Mississippi to New Jersey.
