Event Description

The Positive Community and the Newark School of Theology will host a Newark Public Lecture entitled "Music, Spirituality and Social Impact" in celebration of Black Music Month. The event will take place at the Marion P. Thomas Charter High School in Newark, NJ.

This event features an Inter-generational panel discussion on the social impact of Black music in America. Junius Williams, Official Newark Historian, is the moderator. Panel members include Stefon Harris (Jazz artist, educator, composer); Rev. Stefanie Minatee (Artistic Director, Rev. Stef and Jubilation Choir) Mr. Che Williams (College Student / African-American Studies); and the marvelous young singer Ms. Alexis Morrast (High School student /Showtime at the Apollo winner).

The June lecture is part of a series of programs scheduled throughout 2019 as a way to bring the general public, community leaders, private and public business sectors together to have thoughtful conversations about various issues that affect our community.
