WBGO congratulates singer Cyrille Aimée on winning first "Sassy" award, at the finals of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition which were held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center today. Aimée, of French and Dominican heritage, visited the WBGO studios on Monday and spoke with Rhonda Hamilton about her approach to music and growing up in the Gypsy jazz hotbed of Samois-sur-Seine, France.
Hamilton hosted Sunday's concert, and you can listen to her interviews with finalists Alexis Cole, Hilary Kole, Sandra Booker and Monifa Brown's interview with finalist Ashleigh Smith, - as well as Gary Walker's conversation with the producer of the competition, Larry Rosen, right here on the WBGO blog. Enjoy!
