Leonieke Scheuble & Coleman Hughes: The Future Of Jazz
October 2, 2013. Posted by Tim Wilkins.
Eleven-year-old Leonieke Scheuble and seventeen-year-old Coleman Hughes talk with WBGO's Gary Walker about the future of jazz and play some of their favorite recordings by J.J. Johnson, Nina Simone and others. Scheuble, a pianist and organist, has received a "Youth In Action" award from International Women in Jazz and will record on organ at Rudy Van Gelder's studio this month. Hughes, a trombonist, just received a $25,000 scholarship from the Davidson Institute for Talent Development. Enjoy!
