New York State is warning about investor scams that use artificial intelligence.

Attorney General Letitia James says her office has gotten complaints about AI-manipulated videos on social media that show famous wealthy people. The ads change the voice and mouth movements of people like Elon Musk, Warren Buffet and Jeff Bezos to make it appear as if they are giving an endorsement for an investment product.

“Sophisticated scammers are using AI to impersonate trusted business leaders and scam vulnerable New Yorkers out of their hard-earned money,”

James says the ads are designed to lure investors by having people make what they think is an investment but instead their money is going toward scammers.
