WBGO’s Josh Jackson talks to jazz matron, archivist and biographer Maxine Gordon about Dex@90, a yearlong celebration of saxophonist Dexter Gordon.  Pianist George Cables, music director for the Dexter Gordon Society, performs “Polka Dots and Moonbeams,” “LTD,” and “I Told You So.”

    Happy Birthday Dexter!!!

    One of my most cherished memories was getting to see/hear Dexter in person at the Lighthouse. I have a lot of Dexter’s recordings and keep getting more all the time. Just bough Daddy plays the horn and studying it now.
