After collecting records for 60 years, Chico Hamilton’s Passin’ Thru remains one of my favorites. Great, well constructed interview with a wonderful musician!
First heard Chico on a Jazz compilation of Westg Coast musicians narated by aradio peersonality in LA including Jerry Mulligan ,Chet Baker, and others. Fell for Chico’s quintet with Buddy Collett. I loved him because he had Dick Katz on cello. I startd playing cello in junior high in ‘51 and liked their sound. To this day I wish someone else other than Oscar Pettiford would use the cello more in Jazz. Just picked up this interview from WGBO at 7am today. Still love you as one of my favorite artists, thanK you very much. HEARD YOU LIVE AT cARNEGIE hALL IN pITTSBURGH iN 56,57 OR SO.
