Katie Colaneri is WBGO's new investigative reporter.
Since joining the WBGO News Team in 2011, she's covered some of New Jersey's biggest stories. She was on the ground in Hoboken reporting on the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, filing some of the first reports from the city where thousands were trapped in their homes surrounded by floodwaters. Other stories of note include the 2012 New Jersey US Senate race and Whitney Houston's funeral in Newark.
Her coverage of the aftermath of Hurricane Irene was recently honored by the Public Radio News Directors, Inc. (PRNDI).
Katie has also served as a fill-in anchor for the afternoon drive, and a production assistant on WBGO's live call-in show "Newark Today" with Mayor Cory Booker.
Her work has also aired on NPR and WHYY in Philadelphia. She made her first foray into broadcasting as a research intern with the PBS NOVA Science Unit at WGBH in Boston.
Katie began her journalism career as the Hoboken beat reporter and blogger at The Jersey Journal and NJ.com where she covered all facets of the city from local rough-and-tumble politics to the influx of reality TV stars – ever heard of the Cake Boss?
