Katie Colaneri

Reporter

Katie Colaneri, a Millburn native, is thrilled to be the newest member of the WBGO News Team. Her reports can be heard during the drive-time newscasts and Friday nights on the WBGO Journal. Katie also serves as a production assistant on WBGO's monthly live call-in show "Newark Today."

Since joining the news team, Katie has covered major stories like Hurricane Irene and the aftermath, including President Obama's visit to Paterson and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano's visit to Lincoln Park. Other stories of note include Gov. Chris Christie's appointment of Cami Anderson as Superintendent of Newark Schools and the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Her work has also aired on NPR, WHYY and WNYC. She made her first foray into broadcasting as a research intern at PBS' "NOVA" at WGBH in Boston.

Katie began her journalism career as the Hoboken beat reporter at The Jersey Journal newspaper covering everything from local politics to the city's influx of reality television stars (most notably the famiglia on TLC's "Cake Boss"). She was also responsible for maintaining NJ.com's live Hoboken news blog. From March to October 2011, she served on the Journal's editorial staff as an assistant.

Katie's fascination with broadcasting started when she was a member of the Metropolitan Opera's professional children's chorus under the direction of Elena Doria from the spring of 1998 to 2001. The group was often featured on the Met's live radio broadcast and major television news networks.

Katie is a recent graduate of Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass. and a proud alumna of the Wellesley Widows all-female a cappella group. She currently lives in Hoboken where she also volunteers at the St. Matthew Trinity Lunchtime Ministry program.
