SportsJam with Doug Doyle: Author and Journalist Mark Di Ionno

Mark Di Ionno is a lifelong journalist who began his career as a sportswriter for the New York Post. Most people know him for his front page columns for The Star Ledger and NJ.com.

Di Ionno's second novel is titled Gods of Wood and Stone. It is published by Touchstone.  Mark Di Ionno is the latest guest on the award-winning podcast SportsJam with Doug Doyle.

The two main characters created by the New Jersey resident is a blacksmith named Horace Mueller who lives in Cooperstown, New York and a shoe-in hall of fame Boston Red Sox baseball player Joe Grudeck.

"Gods of Wood and Stone" is Mark Di Ionno's second novel

Gods of Wood and Stone is the story of these two men, as seen through the lens of baseball, a tale of the responsibilities of manhood and the pitfalls of glory.

Di Ionno was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for his coverage of the impact of Superstorm Sandy on New Jersey towns and individuals.
