Pianist Rossano Sportiello began a two week engagement at the Cafe Carlyle this week. The gig is a tribute to the late, great George Shearing, and features bassist Frank Tate and drummer Dennis Mackrel.  Rossano, whose playing is elegant in the manner of Shearing, also seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of everything “Shearing,” and is  happy to share it with his audience. Runs through June 22.
