Darrell Grant (left),pianist, composer and Portland State University professor, ran into saxophonist Steve Wilson outside the dressing room at The Allen Room between sets of Bill Charlap and his Nonet performing “The Cool School,” a tribute to Miles Davis’ Birth of the Cool on January 18, 2013. The Allen Room was the setting for the concert, I was glad to run into Darrell , as I usually only get to see him when I’m at the Portland Jazz Festival..
