The 100th birthday of gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt was celebrated at Birdland the first week of February. Produced by Pat Philips and Ettore Stratta, the event packed the house—on stage and off. Here, a sold-out house listens to Nuage, played by Russian classical cellist Borislav Strulev with (left to right) violinist Pierre Blanchard, accordianist Marcel Loeffler, Dorado Schmitt and Samson Schmitt on guitars and Brian Torff on bass.
