Jazz at Lincoln Center Radio - Now with Wynton Marsalis
Jazz at Lincoln Center Radio
Now with Wynton Marsalis
We note with sadness the passing of Edward R. Bradley, renowned "60 Minutes" correspondent and founding host of this radio program. We recall Ed Bradley in the music he loved and with the words of his friends and admirers in the first program of our Winter Quarter.
Then we take to the The Rhythm Road through Turkey with the Agora Quartet and American Musicians Abroad - the JALC and State Department jazz ambassadors. Piano phenom Brad Mehldau saunters the ivory road in a solo performance. The Ghanaian troupe Odadaa! conjures up the sounds from Congo Square. Teenage pianist Jonathan Batiste displays great stride technique on Louis Armstrong's Hot Fives. Jazz at Lincoln Center shines the spotlight on the talents of guitarist Doug Wamble, pianist Craig Taborn, singer Lizz Wright, drummer Marcus Gilmore, and altoist Miguel Zenon.
Along with them - we'll hear from veterans Tony Bennett, Roy Haynes, Gary Bartz, Bobby Hutcherson, Wynton Marsalis, Ricky Skaggs, Mark O'Connor, Kurt Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in our Winter mix for One (big) Family of Jazz celebration.
