U. S. Secretary of Health And Human Services Meets With Health Care Officials at University Hospital

The U. S. Secretary of Health, Kathleen Sebelius, paid a visit to Newark’s University Hospital today (Monday) to help spread the word about the Affordable Care Act, it’s part of an ongoing tour of the parts of the country with the highest number of people without health insurance.

Sebelius met with various health care officials from around Essex County in an effort to help promote the new health insurance marketplace. Beginning October 1st the marketplace website will be up and running where people will be able to compare and shop for health insurance.  Sebelius says everyone will be able to find an affordable option.

“Never before any place in the country have people been able to see health care plans side by side, to know what the prices are side by side, and to make some decisions for themselves and their families based on what works for them.”

Sebelius says October 1st will mark the beginning of a six-month open enrollment period, and plans will start offering benefits beginning in January.
