Trenton Mayor Tony Mack Indicted
By Phil Gregory, WBGO News
Trenton. December 6, 2012
Trenton Mayor Tony Mack has been indicted on corruption charges,
The eight-count federal indictment accuses Mack, his brother Ralphiel, and longtime associate Joseph Giorgianni with extortion, bribery, and mail and wire fraud.
They’re accused of conspiring to accept about 119-thousand-dollars in cash and other valuables in exchange for Mack’s influence in the development of a parking garage on city-owned land.
The garage was never intended to be built but was part of an FBI sting operation.
The indictment claims the defendants went to great lengths to conceal their corrupt activity using code words, aliases and holding meetings away from City Hall.
Mack has continued to serve as Mayor since his September arrest despite calls from city council members that he resign.
