By Alexandra Hill, WBGO News
December 5, 2012
Now that Rutgers is heading to the Big Ten, the school stands to not only gain athletically but academically.
Rutgers has accepted an invitation to join the Committee on Institutional Cooperation. The committee is one of the nation’s largest higher education associations and includes all the schools in the Big Ten. Richard Edwards, Vice Presidents of Academic Affairs at Rutgers, says joining the association will provide increased academic and research possibilities.
“We think that the opportunity for increased collaborative research and the opportunity for our students to interact with students in the Big Ten universities will be a big benefit for us and areas where we’re strong we’ll be able to become even stronger.”
Edwards says joining the CIC will in no way affect tuition and may actually bring cost savings to the school.
