NJ Transit Enforces New Tickets

New Jersey transit began taking steps to prevent ticket counterfeiting.
New Jersey Transit conductors began using U-V flashlights to check rail tickets. The new tickets feature special holograms that are difficult to re-create, and will cost N-J Transit about forty thousand dollars a year. According to N-J Transit Police Chief Christopher Trucillo, it will help catch those buying and selling bogus tickets, including the first six they caught …
“Well they’ve each been charged with forgery, and forgery is a fourth degree crime in the state of New Jersey. It’s punishable up to 18 months in jail or a fine up to ten-thousand dollars.”
In the last two years fake tickets have become a growing problem for N-J Transit Police Department, who arrested 200 people. The U-V scanners and new tickets are also being enforced on N-J Transit buses and Light Rail trains.
