NJ To Stay In The Political Spotlight At DNC

New Jersey got some unexpected attention at the Republican National Convention this past week and it’s expected to remain in the spotlight among Democrats in Charlotte this week.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker says New Jersey often gets overlooked at these major political gatherings. While he doesn’t agree with the Republican Party’s politics, Booker says he’s proud of Governor Christie’s prominent role in Tampa.
And it’s made him all the more excited to be the one to present the Democratic Platform as the party’s vice chairman.
“We’ve got a platform that speaks very, very loudly to where America is.”
Booker and Christie often refer to their good friendship and their ability to reach across the aisle in New Jersey in ways Washington cannot. But as elections go, only one side can win.
“For our president, I think as soon as people start looking at his record and start looking at his accomplishments, I think the partisanship will fall aside.”
No one knows for sure what Booker or Christie’s political future’s are, but it’s clear they’ve helped make New Jersey a feature of the political present.
