NJ Roofer Hits The Road
By Katie Colaneri, WBGO News
July 26, 2012
Threatening weather hasn’t stopped a New Jersey roofer who’s peddling his way through towns and cities across the tri-state area.
At more than 300 pounds, Chuck Anania isn’t your typical cyclist. But he has a big goal: to ride his bike more than 500 miles in 15 days.
Anania is spreading the word about Roof4Roof, the nonprofit arm of his business. For every new roof they install, his crews put in emergency roofing for families in need - free of charge.
“It’s really a quality of life issue. If you have leaks coming into the house, you have mold… A lot of leaks right into people’s bedrooms, into their living rooms, into their kids’ rooms.”
Just a few days into his journey, Anania is confident he’ll make his goal of arriving in New York’s Times Square on August 7th.
