NJ Motor Vehicle Agencies Will Be Open On Mondays
By Phil Gregory, WBGO News
Trenton. July 8, 2011
Monday service is being restored at all 39 of the Motor Vehicle Commission agencies in New Jersey.
The agencies that process drivers’ licenses and vehicle registrations were closed on Mondays since last summer because of budget concerns.
Motor Vehicle Commission chief administrator Ray Martinez says negotiations with the workers’ union produced an agreement to allow Monday service to resume without increasing costs.
“We have some flexibility with the hours that our employees can work. We’re working some shifts on some days, specifically on longer days and on our Saturdays, and I think that’s the way that we can utilize our employees to their best result for our customers.”
The Motor Vehicle agencies will continue to have extended hours until 7:30 in the evening on Tuesdays and until 1 in the afternoon on Saturdays.
