Newark is celebrating the graduation of students from a program that will prepare them for college and beyond.
More than a hundred students from schools across Newark participated in workshops on resume writing and financial aid. They even took field trips to learn about different career paths. Al Jahad White will be going to Bloomfield College this fall and is the first in his family to do so, he says he learned about career opportunities he never knew existed.
“It taught me that I should take advantage of the resources that are going to be there because college isn’t easy and even if you apply yourself there are rough patches so you should take advantage of any opportunities that present themselves.”
The students who took part in the program will be attending 9 different colleges across the state.
