Newark City Council Votes On Application For MUA
By Alexandra Hill, WBGO News
August 1, 2012
The council approved submitting an application to form an MUA by a vote of 7 nothing with one abstention. It will now go before the Department of Community Affairs Local Finance Board for review. Councilman Carlos Gonzalez says despite the council’s action, the final decision to form an MUA rests with them.
“The Budget as introduced provides for $18 million to come from the MUA, If the MUA were not to be formed then we will have an $18 million hole in the budget that we will have to either cut expenses or increase revenue to fill that hole.”
The application is expected to be reviewed next week.
