A group of kids from area hospitals got a trip to the North Pole today.
The sounds of Christmas cheer filled Gate C91 at Newark Airport. It was transformed to the North Pole for a day as part of United Airlines second annual holiday fantasy flight. 37 kids boarded the one hour flight, and when they landed they were greeted by Santa Claus himself.
“We want to give them something special so they can have fun and enjoy the North Pole for a day.”
16 year old Natia Treadwell of Newark has been a sickle cell patient at University Hospital since she was born. She says she was excited to be flying for the very first time.
“It’s really nice how they put together, I feel grateful because some people are not getting anything for Christmas.”
The kids were treated to loads of ice cream, face painting, dancing, and were even given their own personal gift from Santa.
