Heading into Labor Day weekend, gas prices are ticking up. But AAA says that’s not stopping more New Jerseyans from getting on the road compared to last year.

You may be sitting in traffic thinking there are a million people on the road. And you’d be just about right.

AAA says more than one million New Jersey residents are traveling this Labor Day weekend – more than 800=thousand of them are taking the car. That’s up two percent from last year.

Spokeswoman Tracy Noble says complications from Tropical Storm Isaac mean drivers will be paying more at the pump… but consumer confidence is also on the rise.

“We’re just kind of getting back to normal and understanding the new normal of gas prices at this three plus dollar level and they’re adapting to it.”

Noble is quick to point out that the increase is only slight and travelers are still making some cutbacks.
